etherialOK, so there's this really awesome toy that I want. I do not, however, need it. Nor, I strongly suspect, will I even use it. Still, it is the Awesome. I have a birthday coming up, and I strongly suspect that a handful of the people reading this are thinking about getting me presents. And, well, there's only one thing I want this year: A house. Now, I don't really expect anyone to buy me a house, but a gift of $20 or that jar that's been sitting in your living room collecting coins or even a loan of any amount would go a long way towards getting me that house. So, if you're thinking of getting me a gift, not only is "cash" an acceptable gift, it may well be the one that will make me happiest, and you too, since I can then invite you over to my awesome new house.
