Yeah, so, some people I know have been involved in a project to build a geeky community for the non-college-aged from the ground up. Basically, imagine a condo complex built, owned, and run by intelligent responsible adults. I've been interested in getting involved for some time and finally got the impetus to do so. Anyone interested in buying a house in the next year or two (or with a couple thousand dollars of spare change looking for something to invest in) should take a look at the project.

Financially, though, March may have been the wrong month for me to get involved:

•I owe a bunch on my taxes this year. This can be solved in future years by decreasing my withholdings, but it's still a pain.
•I have 2 (2!!!) loans that are *almost* paid off and, had I not been saving specifically to buy a house, I could have paid them off already this month.
•I spent pretty much my entire monthly allowance at Intercon. It will be a while before I've even earned it all. This may mean I need to switch to a weekly allowance.
•I upped my direct deposit amount to my Savings Account. On the one hand, this provides much less flexibility for the other items on this list. On the other hand, even if I have to withdraw a little from my savings account to pay for, say, taxes, that's still money that *belongs* in my savings account, and I *will* pay it back.

Starting the savings increase back in February would have allowed me to ramp it up a little and adjust into it slowly. Starting it in April would have meant significantly fewer monthly payments to loans and no taxes to scrimp for. But, well, we weren't involved in February, and we're going to have enough trouble getting the money we need when we need it. Camelot Cohousing may be an empty field now, but the dates for construction and move in are growing more and more concrete as time goes by, and, amusingly, this may end up being one of the quickest and easiest house-buying adventures of anyone I know.

Also, while I'm complaining talking about money, I thought it would be amusing to note: My Insurance Company charges a $4 processing fee every month I carry a balance. Thing is, interest rates are high enough that, if I could pay off the entire premium by the first due date, it would be in my best interest (har!) to put the money in a Savings Account and just make the minimum payment every month.

scuffed up the nasal passages of the World's Largest Dungeon under the cruel will of Dungeonmaster [livejournal.com profile] shogunhb. Someone broke into my apartment and changed all the clocks around, so I (and the party) got to a late start. This, coupled with the fact that [livejournal.com profile] shogunhb had to duck out early to do some work, meant that we didn't really get very far at all. A good, though short, time was had by all who actually played.
