Certain persons (
tpau) have been begging me to run an Earthdawn game. I will be starting it up pretty soon, and wanted to make sure everyone reading this journal knew they were invited. So, naturally, the 5 Ws:
•Who?
princess_muffin,
shadowravyn,
shogunhb, and
tpau are in so far. I'd love to see several more.
•What?
Earthdawn is a fantasy roleplaying game. It has a richly developed world with well-defined cultures. For those familiar with Shadowrun, it shares FASA's "Name Magic" metaphysics. Depending on the GM's style, it can be epic, horror, post-apocalyptic, or pulp. I'm aiming to highlight its horror and post-apocalyptic aspects. For those of you who are book-happy, we'll be using the Second Edition rules published by Living Room Games.
•Where?
I intend to run at the house I'm taking care of this summer in Ashland. Ashland is just south of Framingham, 5 minutes from either the Mass Pike or 495.
•When?
Tuesday evenings.
•Why?
Besides the begging, Earthdawn is one of my favourite systems, and each game, even if it doesn't last long, I try to highlight something new and interesting about the world, making it a unique adventure.
•How?
E-mail me or reply to this post.

Date: 2006-06-19 09:15 pm (UTC)Unless you want to play a weird Discipline or Racial Variant, the Corebook will be all you need (though Spellcaster players might get away with 1 or 2 spells from the other books).

Date: 2006-06-19 10:59 pm (UTC)What's the drive from Worcester like (timewise)?
From When to When would the game run?
How are characters to be generated?
I can't think of other questions at the moment.

Date: 2006-06-19 11:12 pm (UTC)2. From about 6ish to about 11ish.
3. Standard die-rolling system. All 15 Corebook Disciplines are allowed, no Obsidimen. The Jerris-specific Sky Raider variant is allowed, others will be available upon GM bribery.

Date: 2006-06-19 11:23 pm (UTC)2. I could deal with the 11ish if it were closer to home. 11ish with a 30 minute drive, for me, would mean midnight or so for bed/sleep, with a 5AM wakeup and being effectively dead at work for a day or two.
Of course, it's selfish to expect you to shift venue for that reason because then you'd have to drive the 30 minutes or so. My job schedule also makes it difficult for me to raid in WoW as well. which is a completely different issue, but somewhat related.
