I agree with tpau and brynndragon. My mom was deeply influenced by the Feminist movement, and I was raised to believe that I could be whatever I wanted to be. My mom was definitely shocked that part of what I want to be is a stay-at-home mom who chooses to submit to her husband. Like that's not a valid choice somehow?
... But then she realized that being able to choose any path means that the role women used to be forced into is now a choice. And it is a single choice among many, many options.
