etherial: A representation of myself using South Park's art style (southpark)

Everything I own seems to be in a state of crumbing entropic decay. My FLCL mug took a fall today and split in half, almost cleanly enough to be glued back together, but not quite. I'm getting so tired of having to adjust to an increasingly smaller quantity of the little things that add zest to my life. It's like colors were slowly fading out of the spectrum. Everything is getting so very gray.

It has more to do with my general brokeness and limited ability to exert positive change in my life at the moment. I'm well aware that nothing lasts forever (though I find Taoism's "roll with the punches" more my style than Buddhism's "nothing really matters"), it's just been a little overwhelming of late.

It doesn't just seem that way; it really is! Damn thermodynamic laws...

Having had very long practice with this problem, and understanding too well how easy problems can be with money thrown at them, I've come to some conclusions...typical and corny though they may seem:

Possessions just don't matter. At all.
Salvation Army really can become your friend.
A positive social life turns out to be far, far more important than health insurance, medical care, clothing, a nice place to live, and good quality food. (I have never lived without enough food, so I can't speak to that experience.)

*No* amount of money can make up for the lack of love.

Listening to the stories of WW2 victims can put things into perspective - and spending time with those people, or any people is much more fun than wallowing alone.

Have a good wallow - you do deserve to, and then go spend time socializing!
