If I were to write a simple no-frills program in some variety of C, what compilers are available to someone who wants to spend no money on one?

I add my ringing endorsement to Kadath's caboose. Really, I just wanted to type (and contemplate) "Kadath's caboose."
(Whatever Apple computer you own will almost certainly have a cc or gcc compiler installed.)
