First Work Post
Jan. 29th, 2004 09:43 amI saw my first hobo today. There was a grizzled old man with a walking stick in a stand of trees, and the only place he could have come from was the moving freight train right behind him.
I also almost got run over by a train later on my way to work because I didn't realize that the track that crosses right in front of the office was still in use. I thought the train was crossing a couple of blocks ahead.

In the case of being squished by a train, the animating force is generally pushed out and allowed to escape.
Anyway, the point I'm not making is that you should always check both ways on a train track, the same as you would on a street. I grew up in an area with a lot of tracks (most of them active), and I'd cross them in less than obvious places depending on the shortcut I was taking and always looked both ways before crossing.
