PS - Is there some way to get lj to stop underlining the titles on my friendspage? It's getting on my nerves.

As it turns out, they're underlined because they're links. So I think there's jack-all I can do. It's funny, I always have used the web update feature, but I've never noticed they've called them "subjects". I've always called them "titles", i.e. "Title of the Post".
