Woo! He's not dead! Yay! So, come hang out more often, bitch. ;)

As for the car, other possibilities could be gunk in the fuel line or a flaky relay in the fuel tank, but I digress... Those could be easily tested by pouring some gas directly in, bypassing the injection. I know this because it's how thirdson's car died when we were driving through Detroit (though that was a bit more permanent and needed to be towed...)

Yes, automatic transmission with fuel injection (I think). You've got the symptoms right on.

Yeah, I made it through Detroit okay, and then a nice Canadian Man charged me $20 to hypnotize it into working. Unfortunately, it started acting up again yesterday on my way out of Wellesley. She's also guzzling oil. I have to put a quart in every 3/4 tank.
