Due to the unexpected Vampire game yesterday, I've plunged deeper into my Uncontrollable Urge to run a Requiem LARP. Sadly, my doctor did not have the cream to remove said urge. The beginnings of the body public of information can be seen at [livejournal.com profile] cityofmasques.

I would love to play in a vampire larp...

I haven't even seen a copy of V: Requiem yet.

Would you use Mind's Eye? (blech!)

Or the modified table top rules that have been used at many WPI larps of old?

1. Requiem's been out since August. Bright shiny red book. You'll also want the World of Darkness book. Bright shiny blue book. A lot of things are completely different. A lot of things are exactly the same.

2. MET has been totally revised, the old system of bidding traits went in the garbage where it belonged. MET is now purported to be 100% cross-compatible with tabletop, and its success generator - while not a perfect map of the tabletop one - is way better than its predecessor. It's not technically *out* yet, so I can't speak to all of the specifics.

3. In the event I *still* don't want to use the MET rules, we'll be using the system we were developing for the game I was writing with Doc and Shaughn, using RPS to determine successes: Tie gets you the Expected Value for your die pool, Win/Loss gets you one Standard Variation up/down. This is a more accurate mapping than the WPI system of old, and the best part is that it generates SUCCESSES, not wins/losses.

I still remember the formulas for generating that table if you want.

hmm.. would have to have the money for big shiney books.

I'll keep thinking about it. And trying to recruit players for my coterie or whatever.

Are malkavians still crazy and insightful?

Oh boy...

There are no Malkavians.

See the Vampire: the Requiem Preview for further information. Clans are detailed "Monday, June 28" through "Friday, July 2."

For reference, the World of Darkness book is $25, Vampire: the Requiem is $35, and if you're strapped for cash, White Wolf is having a 30% off sale until Monday (though paying full price at TE/Gameboro is probably better in the long run).

Also, the first run of WoD is only $20 (the book is 40 pages longer than they anticipated, so they only changed the price on later printings).

Do you IM?
